about

Releasing music monthly feels ambitious when I know how busy my day to day life is but it feels important to me right now so here we are, pushing on. This month I decided to toss together a few beat forward tracks that I made on the OP-Z last year.

The more I use this tiny sequencer the more fun I have with it. The music on this release was recorded as a means of preserving it before dumping everything off the device a few months ago while looking for a fresh start so these are live recordings of several things I had been toying around with for a while. If your curious, read on and lets take a trip through the tracks…

There was a time last year I tried to make a few songs that I thought my daughter Milla would enjoy listening to and this first track was from that period. Then, as I was putting these songs together for release I came across a recording I had of her and I from one afternoon while on a walk by a lake and it felt like a natural fit to add it at the end.

I made Divisive Light wanting to create something playful and minimal but with enough drive to work on a dance floor. The intention was to make a lathe cut vinyl copy to spin when I am out playing records locally and still may, but I thought it fit in well here with the other OP-Z tracks and thought why not share it with everyone.

The last trio of tracks on here are sort of half-way-up-the-block-but-turned-back-because-I-forgot-my-wallet, spur of the moment jams. You know what I mean, right? Yeah, I don’t either. They were built pretty quickly around single ideas and I kept coming back to them because of their energy but never drew them out quite as much as I thought I might so I kept them short and to the point when I recorded them.

Thats that for this round. I hope you find something to enjoy here, and as all of these monthly releases will go, if I raise enough from the sale of these, the funds will go to the printing of a zine that I have been working on that will be paired with a full length album I have been sitting on for all too long. Thanks for your support and have a good one.
